to the official webpage of the The purpose of the information, maps and accompanying database contained on this website is to share information with agencies and the public. This site is simply a tool to understand and consider regional land tenure - potential land ownership adjustment actions. An underlying goal of this collaborative effort is to enhance opportunities to identify mutually beneficial community supported land adjustment actions that lead to better land use decisions in the eastern Sierra. The Owens Valley Interagency Committee on Wildlife & Land established a Land Tenure subcommittee in 2005, to examine regional land ownership adjustment opportunities. Participants have included the Bishop Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management, the Inyo National Forest, Mono and Inyo Counties, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, and the City of Bishop. Representatives from these agencies have been involved in assembling this information. While the agencies view this information as key to better understanding land ownership adjustment opportunities the work products of this committee and all information presented by all involved agencies are strictly preliminary and are for the purposes of information sharing only. For those potentially interested in pursuing a land ownership adjustment action, follow-up discussion is highly encouraged with the contacts from each agency, presented on the following pages. |
